Tangle Labs co-found NGDIL to develop self-sovereign identity in learning.

28 April 2023, Berlin.

Tangle Labs, a leader in self-sovereign identity (SSI) technology, is proud to announce their involvement in the Next Generational Digital Identity for Learning (NGDIL) program. The program, guided by the UNESCO learning institute Koning Willem I College (NL) and UNESCO Learning City Oss (NL), aims to develop and deploy interoperable standards and technologies that can provide solutions to current challenges within the academic and vocational learning sectors.

NGDIL's mission aligns directly with the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning’s mandate for lifelong learning. Tangle Labs is proud to support the focus on lifelong learning through the development of technology and standards, that can support the UNESCO vision and facilitate accessibility and interoperability in all areas of learning.

As a self-sovereign identity specialist, Tangle Labs brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the NGDIL program. They will lead the technology development and research of SSI technologies, alongside Dutch SSI company Impierce Technologies, to facilitate improved learning opportunities and accessibility in both academic and vocational education.

The NGDIL program promotes the use of standardized technology, including micro-credentials, verifiable credentials, and open badges, to support a futureproof and interoperable approach to credentials and certification. By empowering the user to control their own data, NGDIL can enable an entirely new way of sharing data between interested parties, eliminating the need for companies and institutions to develop complex customised data exchange mechanisms.

As founding members, Tangle Labs will work closely with other NGDIL partners across Europe to develop and deploy a number of pilots that will introduce interoperable SSI solutions to validate the additional value and privacy that self-sovereign identity can provide institutions, businesses, and students within all areas of learning.

Tangle Labs looks forward working with NGDIL and other public and private entities to support students, businesses, and institutions with accessible lifelong learning opportunities. Through our continued development of self-sovereign identity standards and technologies. Together, we can create a more inclusive and accessible future for lifelong learning.
